How do I know if I need health coaching?

• Do you feel stuck in the same unhealthy habits?
• Do your providers encourage you to make changes but you feel too overwhelmed to get started?
• Have you tried several times to make a change in your life, but haven't been able to stick to it?
• Do you ever wonder, "What is the point to eating healthy, exercising, etc.?"
• Do you "run on stress" and often say, "I'm just so busy!"
• Are you an "on the wagon, off the wagon" type of person?
• Are you an "all-or-nothing" person when it comes to health behaviors?
• Do you often say, "I just don't have the motivation"?
• Do you spend more time on your phone than you'd like to admit?
• Do you want to WANT TO make a change, but just can't get there?
• Do you struggle to pace yourself and often experience a "crash"?

If you said "yes" to any of these questions, coaching can benefit you. The purpose of coaching is to push you FORWARD into the life that you are truly capable of.

What topics will we cover during our coaching sessions?

In our coaching sessions, we discuss a wide variety of topics, including, but not limited to:

• Movement (who likes the word "exercise" anyway?)
• Boundaries
• Reprioritizing yourself ("My kids all moved out...now what?")
• Sleep
• Decluttering your home
• Creating and maintaining healthy relationships

What is the difference between coaching and counseling?

Let's start by talking about how they can be similar. In both coaching and counseling, your practitioner is dedicated to your healing, development and growth. Sessions are typically very conversational and are bound by confidentiality. Every counselor and coach is different, so it's important to individually evaluate their qualifications and services to determine what is best for you and your goals.

Because I specialize in health and wellness coaching, our sessions will always relate back to your greater goals involving your health.

Counseling often dives into your past, as well as working through your present and future. In coaching, we stick primarily to your present to your future. Think, “Where am I now, and where do I want to go from here?”

In coaching, we may spend brief times discussing your past for the sake of understanding your present. I do, however, refrain from processing past experiences, as this should be left to a licensed counselor, therapist or psychiatrist. I often encourage my clients to seek counseling if they need to process past experiences. I find that counseling and coaching can work beautifully in tandem, as well as being valuable independent from one another.

As a coach, I operate from the standpoint that YOU are the expert on your life. I am here to help bring your intuition and potential forward, taking steps with courage. I serve as a source of accountability and motivation.
